The Police Athletic League and the Public School 14 Vanderbilt School enjoy a partnership committed to the school motto, “Rise to the Challenge, Achieve to Succeed”. Now in its eighth school year, “The Children’s Place” strives to empower youth to be productive members of society. We infuse a variety of social, recreational, educational, and cultural activities with a strong emphasis on responsibility, respect and safety. These after-school activities enable children to develop and enhance team building, communication, problem solving and artistic skills. We are constantly designing and implementing programs that enable children to develop and enhance these skills through activities that are challenging, engaging and fun.

The PAL PS 14 “The Children’s Place” after-school program, serves 200 children in grades kindergarten through fifth, (ages 5-11). Within the surrounding neighborhoods of Stapleton and Clifton, we offer service to a diverse ethnic blend of African, African-American, Caribbean-American, and Hispanic families. As a youth development after-school program, we uphold our responsibility to develop services that will fit the unique needs of the Stapleton community while fostering foster positive relationships with adults and other youth.
