PAL hosts many program and development events throughout the year for PAL kids and donors.

 

 
 

Program Events

OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD SEASON - June through August
All events will begin at 10:00 am. The events are for boys and girls ages 6-18 competing in the 1500m, 200m, 100m 400m, 800m, 4 x 100 relay and Long Jump. For registration information, contact Nancy Figueroa at 212-477-9450, ext. 332 or nfigueroa@palnyc.org. Registration will begin one hour prior to the event (9:00 am) with the exception of the July 12 event. Pre-registration is required for July 12th via email.

Sports Day - July 31
PAL kids compete in track and field, flag football and other sports at Riverbank State Park in this annual citywide event. Sporting Events include: 3 on 3 Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Track & Field, Dodge Ball, Pitch, Hit & Run, Punt, Pass and Kick,  Junior Olympic Skills: Soccer, Hot Shot (basketball) and Double-Dutch. Carnival Day - August 8
Thousands of children will celebrate their summer with PAL at the annual Central Park Carnival Day. PAL kids will be treated to entertainment, refreshments, games and prizes. The event opens with a parade begining at 11:00 am. The Street Games Championships will also take place during this event with kids competing in Skelley, Checkers, Nok-Hockey, Pressure Shoot Basketball, Double Dutch and Search & Find Puzzles. Morgan Stanley/PAL Baseball League Day at Shea- August 9

PAL Cultural Day - August 13
PAL campers prepare a wonderful showcase of costume, language, cuisine, and dance performances.  This year's event, at Pelham Bay Park in the Bronx, features a theme of Native American culture. Cultural Day begins at 10:00 am. For more information contact Fran Gilstein at fgilstein@palnyc.org

PAL ALL STAR Games - August 15
PAL's All-Star Rookie League Baseball teams ages 10 -12, girls softball ages 14 -15, and boys baseball teams ages 15 -16 will be played at Brooklyn Cyclones KeySpan Park Stadium in Coney Island.  Games start at 10:00 am. Contact Nancy Figueroa at 212-477-9450, ext. 332 or nfigueroa@palnyc.org

PAL Mini-Carnival -August 6
The event will take place at PAL's 369th Armory. Mini-Carnival day includes home-made Native-American themed games created by PAL campers; a performnace by Native-American descendents, giant-size PAL Tournament of Champions Games (Connect Four, Checkers, etc.); Arts & Crafts activities (face-painting, dream catchers, mask-making, etc.); and inflatible carnival rides. WOMEN OF THE YEAR LUNCHEON – October 16, 2008
Honors women who have achieved excellence in their chosen fields.Attended by over 500 prominent men and women and held at The Pierre Hotel Festivites include a charity raffle and celebrity presenters. In 2007 PAL honored Margo Catsimatidis, Pamela J. Newman and Liz Smith. In other years, honorees included Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush, Candice Bergen, Edie Falco, Claudia Cohen, Diana L. Taylor Melania Trump, and many others.
