MANHATTAN BOROUGH PRESIDENT'S YOUTH SPORTS LEAGUE
May 12 - The First Annual Manhattan Borough President's League Championship Day celebrated a season of sportsmanship, competitiveness and character. Resulting in victories for the Tony Dapolito Girls team (64-51 over Armory) and the Harlem Boys team (87-79 over Duncan), the tournament was an exciting event for everyone involved in the league. Felix Urrutia, Jr. and Ray Ortiz present the PAL Award of Appreciation to Borough President Scott Stringer and staff.

RED HOOK BOXING CLUB GRAND OPENING - MARCH 31,2007
There is a new PAL Boxing Program for kids at 595 Clinton Street. Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, professional boxers Iran Barkley, Alicia Ashley and Chika Nakamura, and the WBC's Jill Diamond joined PAL staff and the Red Hook community at the grand opening celebration. PAL CHAMPIONSHIP INDOOR TRACK & FIELD RESULTS - February 21, 2007
The 2006-2007 season champions were determind at the Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the PAL Armory Center. Congratulations to all the winners including the Foster-Lalurie Girls team for winning the First Place Team Trophy. The Bronx PALs won Fifth Place. Top winning PAL teams were Edward Byrne Center with 5 Gold, 1 Silver and 9 Bronze medals, Foster Laurie with 2 Gold, 8 Silver and 9 Bronze medals, and Bronx PALs with 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals.

Development Events

PAL’s 32nd Annual Superstar Dinner at The Pierre on June 17, 2004 honored Robert M. Morgenthau, PAL Chairman and New York County District Attorney, for 40 years of outstanding leadership. He is responsible for the agency’s remarkable growth and has actively raised millions of dollars to support programs and services for New York City’s neediest children. Donald J. Trump, PAL Director, was Chairman of the Superstar Dinner.

Sharon L. Allen, Kelly Ripa, Cyndi Stivers and Paula Zahn were honored at the 16th Annual Women of the Year Luncheon on October 26, 2004 at The Pierre. Once again, the incomparable Liz Smith served as Master of Ceremonies with Regis Philbin and Claudia Cohen as special presenters. PAL partnered with WB11 Care for Kids Fund, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, and JP Morgan Chase sponsored the event.

Sports fans gathered at PAL’s 13th Annual Sports Nite Dinner on February 4, 2004 to honor Roger Clemens, baseball great and former New York Yankee, with the Athlete of the Year Award. Howard W. Lutnick, Chairman and CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald, was the recipient of the Humanitarian All-Star Award and Anthony L. Watson, Chairman and CEO of HIP Health Plan of New York, received the Philanthropic All-Star Award. Emceed by Mark Simone. HIP Health Plan of New York sponsored Sports Nite 2004.

Patricia M. Hynes and Roy L. Reardon were presented with The Robert M. Morgenthau Award at PAL’s 6th Annual Legal Profession Luncheon at The Pierre on April 22, 2004. The event Chairman was Charles A. Stillman, and the Co-Chairmen were Michael F. Armstrong, Stuart R. GraBois, Robert J. McGuire, Michael W. Mitchell and Bart M. Schwartz.

On May 11, 2004, PAL’s Meet the Authors saluted Carol Higgins Clark, Nelson DeMille, Oscar Hijuelos and Linda Stasi. This literary reception, hosted by JP Morgan Chase & Company, was a fun-filled, fascinating evening, emceed by Mark Simone. Meet the Authors raised funds for PAL youth centers and programs.
