POLICE ATHLETIC LEAGUE: A TRIBUTE TO PAL ARTS

Lights On Afterschool

On Wednesday, October 24, the Police Athletic League P.S. 13 afterschool program will join the 19th annual Lights On Afterschool, a nationwide series of events for afterschool organized by the Afterschool Alliance.

Our Lights On Afterschool event will be a Tribute to PAL Arts on Wednesday, October 24th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. This celebration of afterschool and school partnership will feature a kids’ arts gallery and talent show with dance, spoken word, acting and singing performances.

  • What: PAL P.S. 13 Tribute to PAL Arts

  • When: 4 PM, Wednesday, October 24, 2018

  • Where: P.S. 13 191 Vermont Avenue, Staten Island, New York

  • Who: Congressman Dan Donovan, invited parents, local law enforcement, school staff and elected officials

Last year, 1 million people participated in more than 8,000 Lights On Afterschool events; the Afterschool Alliance expects the same level of participation this year. The events give youth a chance to showcase the skills and talents they learn and develop at their afterschool programs, and to send the message that millions more children and youth need quality afterschool programs. (A growing list of events is at http://www.afterschoolalliance.org/loaFindEvent.cfm.)

New York City’s Police Athletic League is the first and finest civilian-run PAL in the country. Founded in 1914, PAL has served the city’s young people for over 100 years.  PAL provides recreational, educational, cultural and social activities to 30,000 boys and girls annually.  It is also the city’s largest, independent, nonprofit youth organization.  For more information, please visit www.palnyc.org.
