PAL and P.S. 78 Vanderbilt School enjoy a partnership committed to the school motto, “Rise to the Challenge, Achieve to Succeed.” Now in its eighth school year, “The Children’s Place” strives to empower youths to be productive members of society. We infuse a variety of social, recreational, educational, and cultural activities with a strong emphasis on responsibility, respect, and safety. These afterschool activities enable children to develop and enhance team building, communication, problem solving, and artistic skills. We are constantly designing and implementing programs that enable children to develop and enhance these skills through activities that are challenging, engaging, and fun.

“The Children’s Place” afterschool program, serves 200 children ages 5-11. Within the surrounding neighborhoods of Stapleton and Clifton, we offer service to a diverse ethnic blend of African, African-American, Caribbean-American, and Hispanic families. As a youth development afterschool program, we uphold our responsibility to develop services that will fit the unique needs of the Stapleton community while fostering positive relationships with adults and other kids.
