Police Commissioner For A Day is a city-wide essay contest organized annually by the Police Athletic League. Contestants write essays about programs they would implement to improve the city, if they were the Police Commissioner. The question posed by the Police Commissioner for the 2019 contest is: “What do you see as the most critical issue in your neighborhood that you would like to address as Police Commissioner for a Day? What ideas do you have to address this critical issue?”

New York City’s Police Athletic League is the first and finest civilian-run PAL in the country. Founded in 1914, PAL has served the city’s young people for over 100 years.  PAL provides recreational, educational, cultural and social activities to 30,000 boys and girls annually.  It is also the city’s largest, independent, nonprofit youth organization.  For more information, please visit www.palnyc.org.
